About

This blog is an attempt to retain and expand my knowledge of three Bantu languages, Bemba, Lala, and Nyanja, that I learnt while living and working in Central Zambia with the U.S. Peace Corps. Bemba I learnt fairly formally in the three month training period, Lala was a dialect spoken where I lived and often mixed with Bemba (as opposed to "Deep Lala", a more unadulterated dialect used in more remote areas). Nyanja, which I'm hoping to learn, is the more commonly spoken language of the capital city and the East, and is an offshoot of Chewa, the national language of Malawi. I look forward to connecting with native speakers and learners for any of these languages. Email me.
